Towards the end of the 1990s, a community of talented young artists started elevating toy design to an artistic medium, producing small runs of brilliant, highly personal work in Chinese factories. The decade that followed was filled with cutting edge toy designs produced by independent artists and toy companies like STRANGEco, Munky King, Wheaty Wheat Studios, and Kidrobot.

Toy photographer Brian McCarty was lucky enough to be at the center of it all. For over a decade, he was trusted by world-renowned toymakers and artists to bring their characters to life in a series of playful photos, shot on location. Brian's work was often featured in Hi Fructose magazine – including on its first cover – as well as in numerous other publications and exhibitions around the world.

This collection highlights some of Brian's best known work from his Art Toys collaborations.
