"I usually have people write about this but I'd like for you to photograph, instead" She said. peering over her notebook at me. "Mr. Oliver, I'd like for you to photograph what you think 'happiness' looks like. Maybe we can break some new ground."
I was oddly excited about this exercise my therapist had given me. "Of course I can make pictures! That's what I do best!" I thought. Little did I know, I had now idea what happiness even looked like. What I soon learned, is that the camera looks both ways and everything I'm feeling or going through is reflected right back at me through my lens. These pictures, then, are as much self portraits as they are street photography... And as far as I'm concerned, photography is a valid form of Therapy.
