Abstract Candles NFT

Abstract Candles is a collection of digital paintings inspired by candlestick charts, used by traders to determine possible price movement based on past patterns. They have a long history and were developed in the 18th century by a Japanese rice trader. The series explores abstract colorful compositions based on trading patterns. My first impression of candlestick charts was probably very different from most people. I wasn’t even trying to understand the chart pattern. I simply saw a playful array of abstract elements that had no special meaning. I kept wondering if once you grasp the underlying meaning of these patterns, they become such a banal part of a routine that you become unable to view them as anything more than data, let alone consider them art. It was fascinating to me. The goal of the series is to create a glitch in our rigid way of interpreting candlestick charts and to chase that abstract, clueless, raw feeling one might experience the first time interacting with them.
